Saturday June 9th, 2018 seen Belgian, Delfine Persoon now 41(16)-1(1)-0 successfully defend her WBC world title against Argentina’s Natalia Del Valle Aguirre now 8(0)-11(0)-3. This fight to me was only ever going to go one way and that is home with Persoon. Having lost 9 of her last 10 fights Aguirre was still ranked 3rd in the World at this weight and 1st in Argentina. Aguirre has always gone the distance with a 0% KO percentage compared to that of Persoon (39%).

Persoon was all round far superior, in speed, strength, technique, footwork and shot selection, the 33 year old proved to be too much for Aguirre. The fight went the distance with a unanimous decision given in favour of Persoon.

On the same night in China local lady Zongju Cai now 11(1)-1-0 faced Mexican Ana Victoria Polo now 7(1)-3-0 and won the IBO world title. This fight was a lot harder to call but the 26 year old former two time world champion took the win via unanimous decision. Challenging for her third world title in her home country Cai had a huge advantage. Polo had to travel into Cai’s back yard which is hard to do at the best of times, but with this being her first ever world title challenge it was an uphill battle from the start.
