Chris Eubank Jnr 23 (18 KO’s)-1-0 V Renold Quinlan 11 (7 KO’s)-1-0
IBO Super Middleweight Championship

Chris Eubank Jnr comes to this IBO title fight after last fighting Tom Doran in June 2016 which is roughly 8 months ago and from that time he and his father Chris Eubank Snr have managed to burn bridges with the two biggest promoters within the United Kingdom. Eubank Jnr walked away from Matchroom Promotions / SKY TV and a big money fight with GGG on the 11th September 2016 and he walked away from Queensbury Promotions / Boxnation from a British title fight with Tommy Langford which was due for the 22nd October 2016. Eubank Jnr and his team decided to join a newcomer to the scene in ITV and Poxon Sports Promotions. ITV is a free to air commercial channel on UK television and back in the 1980’s and 1990’s if you wanted to watch a fight, the only place you could watch it was on the BBC or ITV channels, but when SKY TV started taking over the sport they couldn’t afford to pay for the fights so they stopped showing them. This move appears to have caused a lot of bad blood with the Eubanks and the other promoters and if Eubank Jnr is to be victorious in this fight he will want to fight the winner of GGG (WBC, WBA, IBF) & Daniel Jacobs (WBA) or he could seek a rematch Billy Joe Saunders (WBO) to avenge his only loss to date but it might be hard to negotiate a fight with Frank Warren and Queensbury Promotions. Eubank Jnr said “I feel blessed to have this opportunity to work with ITV after they first showcased my father 26 years ago. And I intend to deliver more of what my father did: speed, power, accuracy, showmanship and the will to fight and beat the best of the best. Maybe even with a little bit more swagger!”

Renold Quinlan is the current IBO champion which a lot of people do not seem to be aware off and the fact that everyone is dismissing him is only adding fuel to his fire. Quinlan is a massive underdog for this fight but the Australian has confidence in his own ability and if Eubank Jnr is underestimating him he could have a tough night ahead of him on the 4th February, well that is what Quinlan is hoping for anyway.

Quinlan beat Daniel Geale who is a fellow Australian for the Vacant IBO title in October but with him in the infancy of his career there isn’t any recognisable names on his record to date so a win against Chris Eubank Jnr will propel him onto the world stage.

Renold Quinlan said: “I’m not scared of anyone, I’ll take on the best whenever and where ever. I don’t want to just be Australia’s greatest boxer; I want to be the world’s best. I’ll travel across the world to fight anyone who puts their hand up to fight me. I’ve been waiting my whole life to prove I’ve got what it takes, this is my time and Eubank Jnr is going to know this.”

David Price 21 (18 KO’s)-3-0 V Christian Hammer 20 (11 KO’s)-4-0
International Heavyweight Fight

David Price knows he has to keep winning now to have any chance of getting a title fight or a big money fight in the future, he last fought in October against a journeyman and he really needs to step up the opposition if he wants to land a prize-fight against Anthony Joshua. The Liverpudlian was trying to angle a fight with AJ in October before it eventually went to Eric Molina, he was boasting he knocked Joshua out in a sparring match and he hoped he annoyed AJ enough for him to want the fight. He currently has three losses and three knockouts on his record that came at the hands of two fighters, Tony Thompson and Erkan Teper but both of these fighters were caught using PED’s, so Price in theory could be sitting at 21 wins for 0 losses, and no question marks over his chin.

The losses hit price hard but after making the switch to his new trainer who is Dave Coldwell, it appears that they are slowing trying to rebuild the confidence of the 6ft 8in fighter. If they can answer the questions regarding his chin then David Price still has a lot to offer the heavyweight division.

Christian Hammer is relatively unknown within the UK, as nearly all of his fights happen in Germany and his last fight which was in Hamburg in Germany ended with a Split Decision victory over the last man to beat David Price and that was Erkan Teper, this fight was also for the vacant WBO European Heavyweight title.

When you look at the fighters on Hammers record so names of calibre jump out, Mariusz Wach, Danny Williams, Kevin Johnson, Tyson Fury, Michael Sprott, this says to me he should be a good test for David Price and he is not to be underestimated as a gimme for Price.
