Jacob “The Flamingo” Ng had successfully defended his IBF International Lightweight Title via a fifth round ko over challenger Pablo  Fuego, at a fight night held as the Southport Sharks AFL club. With the win, Ng record moves to 12-0.

The Gold Coast native continues to move up the chain of the IBF Lightweight rankings as he continues to chase a bout with current champ Richard Commey.

Commey is not scheduled for his next defence of his title yet but other options are available for Ng. Currently the IBO Lightweight title is vacant and no fight has been announced on the IBO website as yet as to you will contest for the title.

Despite Ng being ranked 64th on the computerised rankings on the IBO website, that hasn’t stopped fighters obtaining a shot at a vacant IBO title before. Back in 2009, Danny Green took on Julio Dominguez for the vacant IBO Cruiserweight title despite neither man ever fighting in the Cruiserweight division, so anything is possible.

It’s certainly looking that Ng is becoming a real contender in the lightweight division.

In the other major bout of the evening, Heavyweight contender and now WBO African Heavyweight champ, Demsey McKean won his African title match over Patrick Eneanya with a sixth round Knockout. With the win McKean moves his record to 16-0 and now will be on the radar of the Heavyweight rankings with the WBO.
