Vasyl Lomachenko showed once again that he is one of the best fighters currently plying their trade in the modern era of boxing, everyone knows how he fights but they can’t seem to do anything to stop him from doing what he wants to do, he started the early rounds of this fight as he always does stalking, dodging, fainting, creating different angles to attack from, and looking comfortable as he goes about business.
In the 3rd round he even found time to showboat before landing a straight left that sent Marriaga to the canvas, with his quick hands and movement Marriaga struggled to impose himself or his game-plan onto the fight and with both fighters constantly moving a accidental clash of heads occurred in the 4th round causes a cut to Lomachenko left eye.
Lomachenko was rarely tested in the fight as he keep the pressure on Marriaga and by the time the fight was in the 6th and 7th rounds he was catching Marriaga at will, all Marraiga could do was try and get out of the way of the punches but not much was coming back and late in the 7th round Marriaga is knocked down after a barrage of punches.
Marriaga did get back to his feet, but his corner did the right thing by pulling him out before the start of the 8th round which meant that Lomachenko retained his WBO Super Featherweight Title.
Now the questions will be who can stop Lomachenko and who will want to even fight this technical genius. The talk is still linking Mikey Garcia and Guillermo Rigondeaux to him next but who knows what could happen with Boxing Politics always in the background.
Also on the card seen wins for Raymundo Beltran who seen off Bryan Vasquez to retain his NABF & WBO NABO Lightweight titles, plus there wins for up and coming fighters Arnold Barboza Jr, Esquiva Falcao, and Erick De Leon.
