Aussie lightweight contender George Kambosos Jr (18-0) 10Kos, has reached an agreement with British fighter, Lee Selby  (28-2) 9 Kos, for thier upcoming bout which will be a title eliminator for a shot at IBF Lightweight World Championship.

Kambosos Jr has earned the right to a mandatory challenger contest, as his last fight he defeated former IBF Lightweight Champ Mikey Bey, via a split points decision in December last year.

On the same card current champ Teofimo Lope, win the title by knocking out Richard Commey in two rounds. Lopez is on path to a huge unification bout with Lightweight King Vasyl Lomachenko.

Kambosos Jr is ranked third with the IBF at lightweight while Selby is ranked fourth. With no 1st or 2nd ranked contender, a mandatory challenger fight between the pair makes perfect sense.

The IBF ordered the pair to engage in a purse bid on the January 28th, but was delayed and now no longer necessary.  Over the last couple of days the pair reached an agreement on terms and will enter into the bout possibly in the spring. IBF Spokeperson Jeanette Salazar, confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the two parties had reached an agreement.

Kambosos Jr has another chance to bump off  a former world champion as Selby is a former long standing IBF Featherweight World champ. In May 2015, Selby defeated Evgeny Gradovich for IBF Featherweight title (Gradovich was the man who defeated Aussie fighter Billy Dib for the Featherweight title in 2013) and held the title for near three years, until he was defeated by current champ, Josh Warrington.

Since the defeat to Warrington, Selby moved up two divisions to the lightweight division and has had two consecutive victories over Ricky Burns and Omar Douglas. Kambosos Jr has been undefeated in his pro career and held the Australian Lightweight title and held regional to with the WBA and IBF.

The winner of Kambosos v Selby will become mandatory to the IBF Lightweight title, and with Selby already the number one contender for the WBO title, whomever the champion is at the time after the Lomachenko v Lopez fight, will be next in line for the winner.
