Current IBF Lightweight International champ Jacob Ng (11-0), is not the only Aussie chasing a Lightweight world title fight. Like George Kambosos Jr, who may well be in line for a title shot at unified, WBA, WBC and WBO Vasyl Lomachenko, Ng is ranked within the top 15 with the IBF.

Current IBF Lightweight champ Richard Commey (29-2), is expected to defend his title again soon as his last successful defence was in June. There have also be talks about a Lomachenko v Commey fight.

Although Ng has only had 11 fights in his career, Ng has already earned the Australian, IBF Youth and IBF International Lightweight title just in the last year alone. This proving his real contender potential.

But first Ng has to defend his International IBF title against Pablo Fuego (15-4) on Saturday night Australian time. This will be the Spanish fighter’s first trip to the land down under and his first fight for an international title.

This will be the first defence of Ng’s title and a real chance for Ng to take that next step into project his career on the world stage.

Upcoming aussies have been coming through thick and fast over the last twelve months, largely in part to the somewhat short retirement of Anthony Mundine, allowing the chance for other young fighters to grab thier share of the spotlight.

Ng v Fuego headlines the event to be held at the Southport Sharks AFL club on Saturday the 21st of September 2019. The undercard will feature two Heavyweights in Demsey McKean (15-0)  a former Australian Heavyweight Champ, taking on Nigerian born Patrick Eneanya (10-1) for the WBO African Heavyweight title.
