Despite the negotiations for the mega fight, between former WBO Welterweight champ Jeff Horn and uprising second generation star Tim Tszyu in full swing with many details being agreed on, final negotiations have hit a snag.

According to various reports in the media, the camps of Horn and Tszyu have agreed on the 60/40 revenue split in favour of Horn, the weight limit of 154lbs and a date of Wednesday the 22nd of April, 2020.

What the two camps are yet to agree on is the rematch clause and the number of rounds to be contested.

Team Horn is pushing the rematch clause where Team Tszyu is not interested in a rematch. Team Tszyu is pushing to the bout to be contested over twelve rounds, where Team Horn is not prepared to go anymore than ten.

The venue is another matter that is also yet to be confirmed. In my last article on this matter, I gave indication that Perth in Western Australia was to be the choosen city to hold the fight, but now Sydney, Brisbane and even Townsville are back on the table for possible hosting cities.

This will be the first fight for Horn in the 154lbs Super-Welterweight division, where as Tszyu has top world rankings with the IBF (7) and WBO (9).

With the major upset of Julian Williams being knocked out by Jeison Rosario just recently and the IBF, WBA and IBO having and new world champion, the Super-Welterweight division has been busted wide open.

The winner of Horn v Tszyu would certainly have a claim to Rosario’s titles as well as WBO champ Patrick Teixeira. It’s just a matter if the fight can get done in time.
