Tevin Farmer (26-4-1) makes his first defence of the IBF World Super Featherweight title he won with an Unanimous decision in Australia against Billy Dib in a scrappy affair and we are all hoping this fight against James Tennyson (22-2-0) with make better viewing. Farmer is an advocate of the sweet science where he hits and tries not to be hit himself and he has a unique way of fighting as when he feels like he has won the points for the round he goes on his bike and sees out the round but being constantly on the move means that sometime he does have a tendency to go missing in the middle section of the fight.
Tennyson could capitalize on this if it happens again but I think Farmer will have other problems to worry about on the night, as the two of the four losses Farmer has received have come way of knockout but saying that Farmer is high on confidence going into the fight as he is on an unbeaten run of nineteen bouts and with this fight being seen as a formality he will have to make sure he doesnt get complacent.
Although Farmer is not well known for having a big punch if he lands on the target he will stay in the pocket and let his hands go, and maybe because of this I am seeing a lot of people on social media mentioning that they feel Tennyson is an easy fight for him and his style will be easy pickings for Farmer, but I am not going with the same sentiment as all these other views.
As I am from Belfast I have seen James Tennyson fight a lot live and I can tell you this, yes he does have a pressure style and a come forward attitude but he is relentless with his pressure working the head and body and he certainly backs it up with tremendous power which shows in his record of eighteen knockouts from twenty two wins, he has a solid chin as well although he has been knocked out in the two losses he has received they were from body shots and not head shots and he is not scared to pull himself off the canvas, dig deep and come back for the win like he showed in his last fight against Martin Ward.
Although it may seem like bias towards my fellow Northern Irishman I believe Tennyson has all the attributes to win this fight and against the odds I am backing Tennyson to win this fight by KO, I am just not sure Farmer will enjoy getting pulled into a dog fight, both fighters like to start fast so if Tennyson starts the quickest it could be a quick fight but if Farmer starts the quickest it could go the twelve rounds as he will look to frustrate Tennyson and win the rounds with his normal style.
