This fight was always ever going to go in Hammer’s favour, with her victory never in doubt, but Ankrah to her credit showed real heart and even after being knocked to the canvas she got back up, but with being a bit unsteady on her feet the referee was forced to count her out. Ankrah came to fight and was not afraid to let her hands fly, but Hammer was reading the danger well and counter punching to great effect. By the end of round two Ankrah’s nose was bleeding.

Nothing really came out of this fight as it went the way most people expected, if nothing else this fight was used a warm up to a fight I personally have been looking forward to, Hammer vs Shields. Hammer will be making her debut in the US and said “I hope Claressa Shields watches the tape of this fight so she knows what’s coming for her.” I can’t wait for this one, Shields who is a two-time Olympic gold medallist is due to lock horns with Hammer in January 2018, and what a way to start the new year.

Other title fights from the weekend seen Debora Anahi Dionicius successfully defend her IBF World Super Flyweight title against Julieta Andrea Cardozo in Argentina. Dionicius won by TKO in round nine.

Segolene Lefebvre successfully defended her WBF Super Bantamweight title against Naroyuki Koasicha in France. As I had earlier predicted this fight went to the Judges with Lefebvre securing the win by unanimous decision.
