Friday night seen two female world title fights, on two different continents. Yesica Yolanda Bopp now 34(15)-1-0 successfully defended her WBA world title in South America in her native Argentina against fellow Argentinian Soledad del Valle Frias aka La PLayboy now 13(4)-11(1)-4.
Bopp came into this fight high on confidence as the thirty three year old had only tasted defeat once in her professional career, and this confidence showed as the referee had to step in at the sixth round to end the fight as a contest as La Play boy was not throwing any punches back. Finland’s Eva Wahlstrom now 22(3)-0-1 successfully defended her WBC world female super featherweight title with the help of the judges against USA based Melissa St Vil now 10(1)-3-4. This help came in the form of a mixed decision with the judges scoring 95-95, 97-93, 96-94. Again Wahlstrom remains undefeated and one can’t help but wonder if the home soil is giving her an advantage and leading the judges to sway in her favour.
The last big female fight of the weekend was for the interim WBC world female bantamweight title in Austria where Eva Voraberger now 23(11)-5(1)-0 used the home advantage to win by split decision when she beat Serbian Nina Radovanovic now 12(3)-2(1)-0.
