A FIGHTERS JOURNEY: KYLE HAYWOOD #1

When sitting down for the second time with Kyle Haywood 3-0 (1 KO) you instantly recognise he is now settling into the pro ranks. There was a buzz of excitement for fight week with a sense of calmness and self confidence in the job at hand.

This time however, was slightly different to the first meet as I was invited into the ring for some friendly sparring perhaps inspired by the mismatch we saw at the T-mobile arena not that long ago..

Entering his local gym in which he started his Amateur career, we watched him finishing off his last full session before the fight in Braunstone, UK on September 9th (www.carlgreavespromotions.co.uk/events)

With a step up in opposition in Kevin Macauley and it being his first professional bout in his own city Kyle is more than keen to get in the ring and put on a show

“I feel so excited for this fight, literally got goosebumps just thinking about it now, obviously my debut was in Scunthorpe and then a couple in Nottingham, but it’s not home and now I’ve got the buzz for it’

‘It’s gonna be amazing. for me, my friends and my family. They are so proud of me and we are always the loudest!’

Balancing a full time job, add 40 mile round trips after work on top of that and juggling two gyms Kyle is certainly not getting off to a light start in professional boxing life, however remains focused on his path ahead and looking on to area titles in 2018 and keep on building.

‘It’s all worth it in the long run, we’ve forecast what we want to do as a team, we want two more 6 rounders, couple of 8 rounders and then tackle a regional title at the back of next year, it’s all about building’
